# Referrals & Rewards

> Invite friends to ClawUp and earn balance you can spend on runtime and tokens

Invite people to ClawUp and **both of you earn ClawUp balance** as they get
started. Rewards aren't paid at sign-up — they unlock as your invitee actually
uses the product, so the program rewards real activation, not empty clicks.

## How it works

1. **Grab your link.** Open the **Referral** page in your dashboard. You'll see
   your personal link — it looks like `https://clawup.org/?ref=<your-code>`.
2. **Share it.** Send it to friends, post it, drop it in a community.
3. **They sign up through your link.** The referral is attributed to you the
   first time they land via your link (first-click wins, see [Rules](#rules)).
4. **You both earn as they progress.** Each milestone your invitee reaches pays
   a reward to them *and* to you.

## Rewards

Rewards are credited as **ClawUp balance** (your USD balance) and unlock as
your invitee progresses — creating their first Claw, becoming an active chat
user, and making their first top-up. Every milestone pays both sides: your
invitee earns a reward for reaching it, and so do you as the inviter.

The first-top-up reward for the inviter is an affiliate-style commission — a
percentage of whatever the new user tops up, capped at a fixed amount — so it
grows with real money in rather than paying out a fixed amount regardless of
deposit size. Invite ten friends who each create a Claw and you earn that
reward ten times over.

## What can I spend rewards on?

Referral rewards land in the same **balance** you use to pay for everything on
ClawUp, so you can spend them on:

* **Running your Claws** — hourly compute + storage billing draws from your
  balance (see [Billing](/src/billing)).
* **Token Credits** — buy ClawUp-managed model usage straight from your balance,
  no API keys to juggle.

There's nothing extra to claim — earned rewards are spendable immediately.

## Track your earnings

The **Referral** page shows your link, how many people you've invited, where
each one is in the funnel (signed up → created a Claw → activated → topped up),
and your total earned rewards.

## Rules

* **First-click attribution.** The first inviter whose link a new user arrives
  through gets the credit, and it can't be changed afterward.
* **No self-referral.** You can't refer yourself.
* **The first-top-up inviter reward scales with your top-up.** It's a
  commission that grows with real money in, so there's no way to farm a large
  reward from a tiny deposit.
* **Real activity only.** "First top-up" means money you actually added to your
  balance (card or crypto). Spending existing balance on Token Credits is an
  internal exchange, not a top-up.
